 Five Back-to-School Shopping Tips That'll Save You Money & Time!

You may already consider yourself a pro at shopping for school. But if this is your first time, you'll want to know where to shop, how to find the bargains and what to buy.

Check out these five great ideas for saving both your money and your mind while shopping.

GET AN EARLY START

Don't wait too long to shop because you will find all of the shelves empty at your favorite store. Shopping early ensures the best deals.

There will be plenty of supplies on sale by August. Don't forget dollar stores for low prices on pens, paper and a myriad of other necessary items.

Head to the office supply stores or stationers if you're starting late. Although they may not have the best prices, they'll probably have what you're looking for. Buying everything in one place can save you a lot of time.

CHECK OUT BIG BOX STORES

If you have friends who are shopping for their kids you could try looking at membership stores or other bulk outlets as this will help save money.

Splitting cartons of pens, paper and other items will save you money, although they may not stock everything you need.

BUY THROUGH THE SCHOOL

Parents or classmates may be able to arrange for their school to purchase discounted supplies in bulk, sharing the reduced costs with everyone.

This is a convenient method which will save you money and avoids the usual shopping headaches.

SEASON'S END SAVINGS

End-of-seasons sales are on now, offering great deals on clothes for summer and sports. If you have a child active in school sports, now's the time to stock up on their gear.

Winter wardrobes can built from your kids school clothing if you choose multi-use clothing. The likes of cropped trousers can be tucked into high boots, skirts worn with thick tights and tank tops under shirts.

Some schools have regulations about shoulder exposure or how short skirts can be, so be sure to educate yourself about school dress codes before deciding on fashions.

CHOOSING A GOOD BAG

Remember that injuries can easily occur when your kids are carrying their school bag. Make that it is not carried below waist level and that you buy one with should strap padding. A good idea is to buy one that also has a waist strap which will give extra support.

Heavy books shouldn't be carried in hobo bags or sacs, but rather in a backpack that is correctly worn on both shoulders to prevent strain. If you will be purchasing a bag, however, make sure it's a style with a body strap to spread out the weight.
